5 expectations that never come true on Eid

Eid is just around the corner and we all have a created a fairytale in our heads. Even going through the phase of shopping and preparing yourself for the Eid, things turn into a black cat, that has to bring bad luck to us. Well, let me give you a reality check of how things actually go on Eid:

 

  1. The denial of waking up early

Expectations: We’ll wake up early, get dressed up on time, be ready for namaz and CONQUER THE ENTIRE WORLD.

Reality: The day starts with the Ami ki Flying Chappal right on your face. You just put the clothes on, barely have time for shower and rush for the Mosque “jahan namaz dair se hoti hai”

Treat: A voice comes from Ami and Abu, “Yeh har saal yehi karta hai”.

  1. The treasure hunt for Eidi:

Expectations: Let’s admit it, we all lurking and expecting heavy eidi from the elders. Imagining that Eid will be all about getting money like you popping them cash all day. Man, I am getting rich this Eid.

Reality: Either all the close relatives live abroad or you are too old to get the Eidi. Or the worst of ALL, “Beta yeh lo 500 rupay, sab behan bhai divide kar lena”.

Treat: Since you are an old soul, all the “chunna munnas” of the family are expecting you to give Eidi. I mean, WTF?

  1. The flaunting Eid Dress:

Expectations: I will dress up, look the best, ready for the catwalk. Will break the internet down and loving the perfect life.

Reality: “Baji apke kapre nai silay abhi tak”. You can now officially kill yourself. Your right to live this Eid has been terminated.

Treat: In case, you do get the clothes by the tailor, a million-dollar bet can be won if he ruins them. Oh yeah, you have my word.

  1. Looking beautiful:

Expectations: Eid day is my day, and no one can take this from me. I have the power to look beautiful. Perfect makeup, eyeliner on point, popping’ highlighters.

Reality: Say Hi to the pimples. Best friends came to meet me right before the Eid.

 Expectations: This whole Eid, I donate my time to all my friends and family. Just sit there and have fun.
